Alexander Wojtkowiak joined William Kenny Associates in 2019 as a recent graduate. A resident of southern Rhode Island, Alex serves as the team’s soil scientist, assisting with WKA’s ecological services. He assists in performing wetland delineations and ecological inventories and evaluations for the firm and with preparing habitat management and enhancement plans. In addition, he applies his soils experience toward a variety of land use projects, including designing and monitoring soil erosion and sediment control plans.
Alex holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Science & Management from the University of Rhode Island, where he concentrated in soil science. A registered member of the Society of Soil Scientists of Southern New England (SSSSNE), he also holds certification by the Occupational Health & Safety Administration (OSHA) for hazardous waste operations and emergency response (HAZWOPER), as well as construction.
As an undergraduate, he served as a research assistant in investigating the impacts of accelerated sea level rise on the coastal marshes of southern New England, primarily in regards to their ability to translocate into upland wetland habitats. He also investigated the effects of thin layer dredged material placement (TLP) as a remediation strategy for building artificial elevation in sinking marshlands.
